Amos Yee, a Singaporean teenager, was convicted of wounding religious or racial feelings and obsencity a month ago due to his online criticism to Lee Kuan-yew, former Prime Minister of Singapore. In the past few days, he was further remanded in the Institute of Mental Health with his suicidal tendencies, as a judgement of the court. Freedom of speech is always the millstone of a democratic society. Any act of trampling human rights and manipulating the freedom of thought must be condemned. HKUSU hereby initiates a petition to demand the Singaporean government to release Amos Yee and stop any sentence due to one’s speech. Details are as follows:
