Translated by Chapman Chen

In the recent meetings of the two assemblies — The Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and The National People’s Congress (NPC) — quite a few Hong Kong members of them shared their views about Occupy Central, constitutional reform in Hong Kong, parallel traders, etc. Some of these views appear in the report, “With General Election of the Chief Executive, Hong Kong will Take a Great Leap Forward”, of People’s Daily.

Concerning the Umbrella Revolution, labeled by Communist China as “Occupy Central”, certain CPPCC Hong Kong members have put forth “the four victories” to summarize the “accomplishments” of “Anti-Occupy Central”:-
“Firstly, victory of freedom in Hong Kong. Secondly, victory of Hong Kong relying upon its legal system to end Occupy Central.

Thirdly, people have been enabled to see the failure of the conspiracy of anti-China Western forces in Hong Kong. Fourthly, sectors of Hong Kong have been enabled to realize that Occupy Central has all kinds of demerits but no merits at all for Hong Kong.”

This is absolutely absurd argument. It is sophistic to call victory of freedom of speech a situation in which public opinions and news are all manipulated by mainstream pro-China media. It is cold-blooded to chase away with force Umbrella Revolution occupiers on the excuse of executing the High Court’s injunction. It only goes to show that the Government abuses its power and ignores the people’s will.

It is shameless to cover the Hong Kong Communist Government’s incompetent governing by accusing Joshua Wong of conspiring with foreign forces based on his taking pictures with foreign powers. It is misleading to call purely harmful the defense against Hong Kong traitors’ league with the CCP to destroy Hong Kong.

Genuine Universal Suffrage is the Pre-requisite for Solving Hong Kong’s Problems

Cheng Kar-shun, Henry, Chairman of New World China Land Limited cum Standing Committee member of CPPCC, said that some Hongkongers mistook genuine universal suffrage to be a panacea. Genuine universal suffrage in itself, no doubt, cannot solve all the problems of Hong Kong at once. But it is the pre-requisite for solving the problems.

Tung Che-hwa, former Chief Executive of Hong Kong cum Vice Chairman of CPPCC, even bluntly said that if the Government’s constitutional reform proposal is passed by the Legco, Hong Kong will “take a great leap forward”, on the ground that “a chief executive generally elected by five million eligible Hong Kong electors will have more legitimacy and support than ever. His/her policies will be more widely supported, the efficiency of the administration higher, and its effects better.”

This is an interesting piece of sophistry. Exactly owing to the design of the system, many capable persons with public support aspiring to become Chief Executive eventually will not be allowed to run for the election even if they manage to be nominated by certain members of the nominating committee.

Suppose the final candidates for the coming Chief Executive election after the screening process are Regina Yip and Leung Chun-ying, both of whom are highly unpopular in Hong Kong, and Hongkongers are obliged to choose from the two of them, where is the legitimacy? And how can the administration be effective and efficient?

An even more ridiculous saying of Tung Chee-hwa is that the reason why Hong Kong is gradually surpassed by Singapore is also connected to disputes about the constitutional reform. This is really unimaginable. For the reason why Hong Kong gradually lags behind Singapore in sundry aspects is precisely because Hong Kong has been governed by puppets like Tung after 1997. Hong Kong has been emptied by China economically and its democratization kept stagnant. Tung actually had the face to casually make such arbitrary associations.

Fortunately, a recent analysis points out the success of Singapore lies in the quality of its new immigrants being much higher than those to Hong Kong. Hong Kong has no say in the examination and approval of one-way-permit immigrants from China. The problem of children born in Hong Kong but with both parents not being Hong Kong permanent residents will worsen noticeably. Meanwhile, a Hong Kong standing committee member of CPPCC has actually proposed unlimited opening up of Hong Kong for pregnant China women to give birth there. When Hong Kong comes close to Communist China and when the quality of Hong Kong’s human resources keeps declining, its economic performance is naturally becoming unsatisfactory.

Anti-parallel Trading Actions must be Escalated

The policy of “multi entry permit” has not taken into consideration Hong Kong people’s feelings and their everyday life. The problem of parallel trading or smuggling was not formed overnight. As early as a couple of years ago, China people already began to rush for daily necessities in various countries.

The reason why all Hong Kong Chief Executives have failed is because they have neglected the primary cause of increasing instability and restlessness in Hong Kong, which is the rapid flow of China people and money in and out of Hong Kong. The series of anti-parallel trades demonstrations and rallies in the last few weeks show that Hong Kong people have had enough. The Hong Kong Government has to shoulder the greatest responsibility for the recurrences of conflict between the protesters and the police and for the latter’s abuse of power and violence against the former.

Encountered with such a predicament, Hong Kong’s representatives to National People’s Congress have proposed setting up a “shopping town” in Hong Kong for mainlanders. However, Hong Kong transport is so convenient, and the flow of people and goods so widespread that smuggled goods regions will naturally be formed. It is simply unnecessary to set up any shopping town. So much the more, the entire Hong Kong has already become a huge shopping town for China people to purchase goods of luxury brands. How could a normal society possibly endure having almost five hundred pharmacies in such small districts as Tsim Sha Tsui, or Mongkok, or Yau Ma Tei?!

Faced with Hongkongers’ vigorous reactions but completely ignoring what kind of harm to Hong Kong will be done by an unlimited influx of people, Communist China has not only failed to restrain cross-border travel, but also released in recent months the authority to monitor migration from the city level to the county level, such that in the future, there will be even more cross-border travels from China to Hong Kong.

Hong Kong people should not just sit there and wait for Mr. Death to come. Their only option is resistance. Resistance against Communist China cannot be delayed any more; it must be stepped up. The consecutive protests have already deterred the smugglers to some extent and forced the Hong Kong Government to look into illegal warehouses storing smuggled goods.

The saying that the protesters are fascists is one that ignores reality. The real fascist is the Chinese Communist regime, which has been racially cleansing East Turkistan and Tibet by massively emigrating Chinese people hither, by moving the local young people there to coastal areas of China, and by forcing the natives to seek refuge in Middle Asia and other regions of the world. The objective is to gradually assimilate these two alien races or forcefully occupy their land by chasing their people away.

Duplicating the Greater China pattern of clearing the Tibetans and the Uighurs , Communist China will make Hong Kong disappear in 2047. The notorious “multi entry permit” policy is exactly the most important component of Hong Kong-Shenzhen integration. It is for the purpose of diluting the population of Hong Kong and obscuring the Hong Kong-China border.

Meanwhile, if the pseudo universal suffrage proposal is passed this time, Hong Kong citizens will for ever be able to vote only within the framework of the nominating committee. In this way, Communist China will suffocate Hong Kong, and then ostentatiously and pretentiously tell the whole world: Hong Kong already enjoys universal suffrage with three to four million electors. The Hong Kong political structure is an executive-led one such that what the Legco can do is very little. Then all the policies of the Hong Kong Government will be in line with China’s plan to exterminate Hong Kong in 2047.

Now CY Leung apparently wants to deteriorate the Hong Kong society and force Hongkongers to resist more vigorously until China has the excuse to take direct control of Hong Kong and turn it into an ordinary city along the coast of China ahead of schedule, or announce even before 2047 that the Basic Law is no longer applicable to Hong Kong. Should this step be taken, more vigorous resistance will become a common state of affairs, and Communist China and its puppets will have to pay a price they cannot afford.
